Travel-Ready Overnight Oats Jars

makes 1 jar · 5 min prep · chill overnight · make 3–4 before a trip, keeps 3 days

Makes 1 jar

The breakfast equivalent of a packed snack—a complete meal in a half-pint jar that survives a cooler, holds longer than a smoothie, and tastes better than any hotel or airport breakfast. Prep several before a trip and pull one each morning.

Ingredients (per jar)
  • ½ cup sprouted rolled oats
  • ¾ cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1 tsp date syrup (or maple syrup)
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch sea salt
  • Topping, added separately at eating time: chopped walnuts or a mix of walnuts and pistachios, fresh berries, a few dark chocolate flecks
Directions
  1. Combine everything except toppings in a half-pint Mason jar.
  2. Seal and shake vigorously until well mixed.
  3. Refrigerate overnight (or up to 3 days).
  4. At eating time, add toppings on top and eat cold straight from the jar.
  5. For a trip: prep 3–4 jars at home, pack in the cooler, top from a small separate bag of nuts and dark chocolate.

Why this works

The chia seeds absorb the liquid and set the whole jar into a thick, spoonable texture overnight—no cooking, no blender. The combination of chia, flax, and oat fiber slows digestion enough to hold you through a long travel morning, which matters more on the road than at home where lunch is predictable. Holds in a fridge or cooler longer than a smoothie, and it's a real breakfast instead of a gas-station pastry.
