Tollef Halvorsen was Tollef, son of Halvor; Karen Torkildsdatter was Karen, daughter of Torkild. It changed every generation, which is why Norwegian lines are traced by farm as much as by name. All the words Sevatson says Hølje’s father was named Sevat. Whether he is Sevat Sjurdsen of Lande, and his dates, is not settled: a September 2026 reading of Flesberg-boka found the 1676 testimony ambiguous about which generation was born at Lande. His parents (Gen 0) are listed on MyHeritage/Geni but have no Bygdebokbygdebok (plural bygdebøker) A Norwegian local history, usually a few volumes per district, going farm by farm through who lived there and when.
