THE WILD FIDDLER. Fiddle smashed 1833—won 7 speciedaler at conciliation commission. Bought Kjemhus 1835 for 300 spd. Compositions (Gladheimen slåttar) still played today.
Central figure of 'The Wild Fiddler of NumedalNumedal A long valley in southern Norway, running north-west from Kongsberg, where Flesberg, Rollag and Veggli lie. All the words.' Paternity case (Guro Vefall, 1830). Nidvise composed about him. Bought Kjemhus 1835, also owned Landrud 1839-62. Built farmhouse 1860 using church timber. Iron cross in churchyard.
